I never set out to become a jewelry designer in the traditional sense. Life took me in a different direction—one built on logic, safety, and responsibility. But somewhere along that path, I realized that the deepest parts of who we are never really disappear. They wait patiently, until one day something reawakens them.

For me, that moment came when I encountered a vivid green tsavorite garnet. I didn’t know its name or its rarity. I just knew it was calling me. That spark—like love at first sight—brought me back to who I’ve always been: a dreamer, a romantic, a
collector of meaning.

There were days, in the early building of this brand, when everything seemed uncertain—except one thing. I would open my gemstone box, lift a stone, and feel the world go still. That stillness, that beauty, was a kind of medicine.

I created SONYA K. to share that feeling. To remind us of what endures. To offer an anchor, a companion—through joy, through difficulty, through transformation.
